Do you give value, or are you only seeking it?

As I sit here at my desk writing this, I wonder ‘do I give or seek value’, and maybe we should all be asking this question?

In this fast-paced world, it is very easy to get caught up in our own agenda and not worry about others and how we can provide value to them. ‘Why should I though, they haven’t done anything for me!’ I hear you saying, but are you sure about that?

Do you give value, or are you only seeking it?

In his 1996 book Creativity, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (pronounced Me-high, Chick-sent-me-high) discovers that the happiest people on earth are the ones who felt they had the most meaning. Therefore, giving value and helping others on a regular basis may give you more meaning in life.

Now before we go off and ‘give value’, this does not need to be a big event and can be very small things such as, giving a work colleague a few pointers on a work project or being less of a ‘keyboard warrior’ on social media. Try it for a week and see how it feels, you may like it!!!

Food for thought.

Till next time, Stay Stoic,
